As a bowhunter with decades of experience, before he started rifle hunting in 2017, Steve wondered why many rifle hunters swore by a “big magnum or nothing” mindset when he had seen just how effectively broadheads could kill big game.
That led to research (like the podcasts linked below) into the effectiveness of smaller calibers for big game hunting. And ultimately led Steve to move from shooting a 270 Winchester to a 6.5 Creedmoor, and now a 6mm Creedmoor.
In addition to caliber/cartridge changes, Steve has also tried and changed stocks, scopes, triggers, and other rifle components over the years.
In the video above (also on YouTube) and the podcast below, Steve shares an in-depth look at the rifle he built for the 3 Alaskan hunts he will be undertaking this fall for The Experience Project.
Tune in to hear about Steve’s choice in chassis, scope, suppressor, shooting support systems, and more.
